I have been trying to get my external USB microphone to work with Media Express. Here is my setup. A Sony A7R for my video source. An Ultrastuido Mini Recorder connected to the Camera via HDMI and to the mac via Thunderbolt. It allows me to capture the sensor on my camera and to record to my hard drive but no matter what I do I can't get it to ignore the computer microphone and use the USB. Even when I change the settings in the System Preferences to use the USB microphone only. It always picks up the computer microphone. Even if I mute the microphone it still uses it and the sound is just garbage. The video works but not the microphone. I believe it is also picking up the camera's microphone at the same time. But not the USB. Not at all. Is there anyway the USB microphone can be used directly so I don't have to sync up sound later when I record sound on a separate device then sync. I'd love to be able to ditch that step. What gives. I use this setup in my little studio to do youtube videos and it is just a pain in the arse. If there is a way to get the USB microphone to work that would be great.
ExpressI also use WirecastPlay for youtube as my streaming software and it provides a way to use the USB microphone just fine. I do prefer to use Media Express Software for pre recorded events. Wirecast is fine for live streaming. If Wirecast can do this I'd think you could as well. Unless I'm missing something it needs to be able to recognize all forms of microphones and be able to isolate them for use as the customer wants.
